Corbie Games’ Railroad Corporation is an early access business
simulation that puts you right in the middle of the Golden Age of
Steam as you lay down tracks to connect towns and cities, ferry
passengers, and keep the goods that will power America’s Industrial
Revolution flowing.
Players will race to fulfill contracts and objectives based on
historical rail networks across the United States, as you
strategically connect towns and cities with the most efficient
routes possible. You’ll be in charge of almost every aspect of the
business, from deciding where to lay down tracks and what goods to
ship, to strategically building facilities like repair yards and
warehouses to keep your fleet of rail cars and engines running
smoothly.
Supply, demand, and distance can affect the prices of the goods
you transport and the profits you can rake in, and the local
terrain and soil can affect how much it costs to lay down track, so
you’ll have to carefully balance cost and efficiency to stay ahead
of the competition. With the proper facilities and business
partners, you can even combine resources like iron and coal into
more valuable ones, such as steel, allowing you to create even more
complex trade networks, and correspondingly larger profits.
The game is more than just about laying down track, as you’re
also in charge of other aspects of the business, like personnel,
research and development, and even lobbying! Recruiting the right
personnel and managers can provide boosts to your business, as each
new recruit applies their own talents to keep your operations
running smoothly. R&D can also provide you with an important
technical edge, improving the performance and reliability of your
engines, as well as unlocking new models that can travel faster or
carry larger loads. Finally, you can lobby local lawmakers to make
sure that policies help your business, while hindering your
opponent’s plans.
Railroad Corporation features a single player and sandbox mode,
but also includes a neat online multiplayer option that has you
competing with friends to be the first to earn $500,000.
